Dr. Hafeeza Bassirullah is the founder of Spaniels Training Solutions - a consulting firm that specializes in placing the learner at the centre of learning.


Hafeeza is a passionate education leader with over 20 years of experience in designing and implementing learning, training, and education transformation strategies from concept to launch. She has grounded her passion for education, training, and learning in a collaborative-participatory framework, to engage meaningfully with learners to create value and lasting change.


One of the biggest challenges Hafeeza found when working with organizations to develop training is that they do not know how to meaningfully engage learners.  Learners' voice is often missing in the process of determining the needs of the training, the development of content, and how the training should be delivered.


A top-down approach is often used to develop training for many reasons - because management often thinks they know what employees need, sometimes a quick solution is required, or there is a lack of financial investment to fully develop and implement relevant training for employees. Often times a tick beside a box is the desired outcome.


Hafeeza has worked with many organizations to understand the needs of learners in order to design and implement purposeful and relevant training programs. She has developed training programs to enable and empower over 16,000 health workers, health sector employers, and government staff in Ontario to make healthy and informed decisions in the event of an emergency – whether it be a pandemic or a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear emergency.


She has built the education and training foundation for a national regulatory for its 5,000+ members. To achieve this, she worked with members of the regulatory body, industry and education stakeholders to advance members' competency and the pre-licensing education obligations to meet the federal government’s legislative requirements.


In addition to her work experience, Hafeeza holds a Doctor of Education degree with a focus on Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning and a Master of Education degree with a focus on Adult Education.
